Admins can now enable OneDrive to manage permission inheritance for folders that are synced as read-only on a Windows computer.
This policy setting lets the OneDrive sync client remove all inherited permissions within read-only folders syncing on a user’s PC. When enabled, this policy will improve the performance of the sync client when it is syncing folders for which the user has only read-only permission.
Enabling this setting for a user will not change their permissions to view or edit content in SharePoint.
This setting is available only for the Windows OneDrive sync client (19.192.0926.0012 or more recent).
If you would like to enable this policy for your tenant, review these instructions.
Microsoft do not recommend enabling this policy for end users who are not syncing read-only content.
