Microsoft is introducing a faster, more collaborative Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience for SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business documents on the web. They have already rolled out this feature to Targeted Release customers, and plan to enable access for all organizations over the course of the next several months.
After this update takes place, your users will be able to get started right away on typing and collaborating now that documents will open directly into edit mode.
When you click a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file in OneDrive for Business or open a sharing link to a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file in your browser, you will now be put right into edit mode, allowing you to jump into work faster than ever.
